Matric Vault ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Matric Vault mobile application ("the App").

We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa and other applicable privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we collect your Google email address and unique user ID. Guest users have no personal data stored.
AI Tutor Conversations (Optional): If you enable "Save conversations" in Settings, we store your questions and AI responses (with your explicit consent) so you can review them later.
Premium Subscription: Payments are handled securely by Google Play. We do not store any payment details.

b) Automatically Collected Information

Usage Data: Which papers you view/download, AI Tutor usage, and navigation patterns (anonymised via Firebase Analytics).
Device Information: Device type, OS version, app version (for crash reporting and improvements).
Quota Data: Daily download and AI usage counts (to enforce fair limits).

c) Ads & Analytics

We use Google AdMob to show ads in the free version.
We use Firebase Analytics (anonymised) to improve the app.
You can disable analytics in Settings → Privacy.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the App (e.g., show recent papers, deliver AI answers).
To enforce fair usage limits and prevent abuse.
To display personalised ads (free version).
To analyse usage and fix bugs.
To deliver premium features.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We only share data with trusted partners:

Google services (Firebase, Google Play Billing, AdMob, Gemini AI for the Tutor).
Third-party processors under strict privacy agreements.

4. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers.
We use encryption in transit and at rest.
Access is restricted to necessary personnel only.

5. Your Rights (POPIA)

You have the right to:

Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
Object to processing.
Withdraw consent (e.g., disable chat saving or analytics).

6. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for learners aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
